Yea, because all of the real men on the field are using gloves because they are real men. Oh wait, they are using gloves because batted balls caught with bare hands cause broken bones.

I make fun of idiots with gloves if they aren't in range of foul balls or HRs. However, if you are in range of a batted ball, not having a glove simply to prove you are a real man isn't the brightest idea. If you don't have health insurance and you go to a Yankee game and sit in seats within foul ball range, I recommend a glove. The Yankees aren't going to pay your hospital bills if you break a bone in your hand. They get out of that by printing all of those small letters and fine print on the back of your tickets.

klza - I see where you are coming from with this. The vast majority of people don't need to bring a glove to the stadium. However, if you are sitting in the "hot zones" for hard-hit foul balls like between the bases and foul pole in the lower deck downstairs, right over the dugout downstairs, or in the first couple of rows between the bases in the upper deck, I recommend a glove just to be safe. Since El Maestro is sitting close to the front of the upper deck, there is a greater probability of the ball coming at him more on a line. If he was further back, the ball would more likely be on an arc at the peak of its height, and therefore its velocity would be slower, lessening the need for a glove.

Anyway, this is all getting too detailed and technical, but the bottom line is, nobody wants to break their finger on a foul ball.
