8th Inning Setup Man |

Who do you want as our 8th inning setup man coming out of Spring Training? Kyle Farnsworth? LaTroy Hawkins? Ross Ohlendorf? Edwar Ramirez? Jose Veras? Someone
else? Would you trust the kids over Farnsworth?

Coming out of spring training I would prefer Farnsworth! But I hope as the season progresses we get to see Albaladejo slide into that role, I think he could be
very reliable.

Actually, my youngest brother always like the Packers because his name is Brett and of course the great Brett Favre is the QB of the fudgepackers. He best not be rooting for them THIS weekend. I'll kill him. |

Joba until early May...... Then either Veras or Ohlendorf
Sleeper pick... Steven White (2-seam, + 4-seam, + curve, slider, change) I actually think Krazy Kyle will have a solid year like 2006. There is no reason why his k/9 dropped off the map like that in 07. His relationship with Torre was terrible which should drastically improve with his ex catcher Girardi. He was also dominant when he went to the full windup instead of pitching from the stretch in September. The best thing about Mccutchen, Marquez, Horne, Robertson, Whelan, Cox, Sanchez & Melancon as potential bullpen arms in the future? 3-4 pitches & NO MORE STRAIGHT FASTBALLS!

I also think Krazy Kyle will suprise us. It's his walk year and Giradi will use him better. With that said, he's still not going to be able to pitch on
back to back games. Someone will emerge from the Veras/Ohlendorf mix. Let's hope that the starters don't average 4.2 innings per game again and fry the
bullpen.

bullpen. They will have made the roster for a reason, and all should be used. It's a proven fact, if you ride one horse too much, well, the rubber
band's gonna break. Everybody being used will breed a sharper pen and a more confident one. I know nothing in this game is an absolute, but it would be
sweet if the SP's could produce "quality starts" for the year and then turn it over to a rested and confident BP. |

The pen was dominant in spring training & they all (Farns, Viz, Henn, Bruney) started the season well in April, but with the workload due to everyone in
the rotation other than igawa (who couldnt get through 5) going down, they were all toast for the next 2 months.

If Wilson Betemit was the 8th inning man for the Yanks in 2008 he would lead the league in holds. That's a guarantee.

The start of last year was marred by the injury bug to the starting rotation. A string of minor leaguers that were either not ready or not talented enough gave
us a string of gameshe where they didn't make it through the 5th inning. Combine this with Mike Meyers being a one batter pitcher and Kyle not being able
to pitch back to back and the BP that looked good during spring training was suddenly fryed. Our vaunted hitting crew start to press and couldn't score
resulting in a horrendous start which took the entire season to make up.
If the starters can do their job, we have the talent (and the right manager) to bridge the games to Mariano. |

Relief pitchers really are impossible to project... Hopefully he team can stay healthy, and pitchers can pitch deeper into games...
