I'm seeing some injuries in major league baseball that make me wonder if it is steroid related. Also, A-Rod killed my fantasy team last night.

Hey guys, don't worry if Posada is out.....Doug Mirabelli is available!!
Seriously, I hope it is just a dead arm phase, like lots of pitchers and catchers go through. I have always liked Posada. |

Wil Nieves or Doug Mirabelli-kind of like who is the tallest midget.

MrG could steal at will against Nieves. That was the worst throwing arm I've seen in a long time. I'll never forget the old farts on the Giants
stealing base after base last year. That was the lowest I've seen the Yankees since about 1991,

What does losing Posada mean? Posada's average projection for this year was .286/.380/.469, which means his offense would have been worth around .15 runs per plate appearance. Jose Molina's average projection was .242/.279/.358 and .0908 runs per plate appearances. So for every fifteen games that Molina plays over Posada, the Yankees lose about 4 runs (assuming 4.2 plate appearances per game). So while losing Posada is not good news, if it's short-term it shouldn't be crippling, particularly if Derek Jeter's sore quad is really just a day-to-day thing. It's not a good sign to see Posada on his way to the DL for the first time ever in the first year of a four year deal, but it's probably too soon to worry about the long-term implications of this.http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080408&content_id=2505540&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb |

So the fact that to this point Molina is batting .286 and Posada is batting .176 to this date is also relevant.. yea assuming over the season they may adjust
to their predictions... but in the next 10 games- the prediction doesnt take into considering a hot streak or a cold streak... just over the course of the year
it will even out.
Hence, over the next 10 games Molina may very well bat .300 and then regress the rest of the year... while Jorge could bat .100 over the next 10 games and go on fire for the rest to the year. Bottom line, I wish Jorge was healthy, but he isnt and you cant know whether having Molina in their right now will cost the team 4 runs over 15 games. He may very well add 4 runs over 15 games. That's the only point Im making... predictions are just that... predictions. If I could really predict accurately who would have great years and who wouldnt I would win a lot of money gambling and therefore not be in law school. |

This 4 year contract is starting to scare me.

Not to mention, there is a benefit to having quality backups. Molina is way better than Nieves. Hence, we won't be as bad off with him as we could have
been with Nieves.

Yea, I definitely like Molina as a backup.

Molina gets exposed over 162 games but the guy can flat out fill in and help a team. I said last year that no team addressed needs more than the Yanks when
they picked up Betemit and Molina. Glad they prove my right time and again.

Unfortunately, Betemit has not improved, but Molina is more and more valuable each day.
Speaking of valuable - Andy Pettitte. THE STOPPER. |

Betemit is a utility player. Expecting him to play like an all-star is unrealistic. Utility players with power don't come around very often. Every time
Betemit does something think back on whether you'd rather have him or Bellinger, Cairo, or Nick Green?

I would be happier with Cairo. He is better than Betemit. And yes, he is a bench player, not an all star.

If we didn't have Betemit I'd like Cairo back. He did the little things. Betemit could be a star if he ever figures it out though so I'll take him.
