It's weird, I'm way more consistent throwing offspeed pitches than I am my fastball. That's what I'm struggling with is my fastball. Not real consistent life on it. I don't know velocity, I know it's down though. I'm not able to beat guys with fastballs when I should be able to beat them, especially in breaking ball counts. I'm just not doing it right now. Lets hope he gets on track for a good late season run. This may be for the best. You all know by now that I don't really like to deal in speculation and I've been trying to hold off to get some real answers for ourselves as well as ya'll. Those answers seem to be hesitate in coming forth. I really don't know what to give you for information. I've taked with Alan and he tells me basically the same things you've all read in CJ's blog. We are looking forward to the right answers showing themselves and everyone to see the results that I feel we all want. Again, as always we thank all of you for your continued support.

Replacement Level Posts: 159 07/27/08 8:44 AM	I talked with Alan last night. He's been told he starts Monday. I'm sure there will be some type of pitch limit. Here's hoping he gets off to a good start and comeback and can get on a roll...I know he's ready for something positive. Sorry I've been out of pocket lately myself guys--been dealing with some health issues--had to go through lithotripsy and then right behind that had Dr. Andrews go ahead and scope a complete rotator cuff tear I've been putting off dealing with. Anyway, I'm back home now, but will be in a sling for 4 weeks with 6 months of re-hab to follow, so please forgive my slow typing and higher probability of mis-spelled words.

Legitimate All-Star Posts: 734 07/29/08 1:41 PM	Yea, this has just been about the worst season Horne couldve hoped for, especially with all the injuries he would have most definitely gotten a shot. I hope he just remains healthy the rest of the year, and resets it all for next season.

Replacement Level Posts: 159 08/30/08 3:29 PM	OK guys, we just got back home--here's what I've got.... Alan met with Dr. James Andrews yesterday and after a complete hands-on exam and a review of MRI-X-Ray pictures he did a successful scope on Alan's shoulder. He said there was a partial tear of the rotator cuff that he cleaned up along with some fray, but was very specific that it was not considered a typical repair where you actually have to tie anything down. Also there was some fray along the labrum which he cleaned up saying that because nothing was considered a complete repair that Alan's recovery should go well. Dr. Andrews went on to say that the issues going on with Alan's shoulder this year would surely prohibit his arm from working the way it can and should, but that this will put him back on track. I would tell you that Alan was very up-beat with Dr. Andrews during this time and is very positive about his recovery. Thank all of you for your support.

Does he expect to be ready by spring training, and should Alan's velocity be the same? yanks27- Dr. Andrews said look for 4 months down and then start his throwing program--that may put him a little behind at the start of ST but then he went on to say he felt confident Alan would catch up. He went on to say you know everybody's body heals differently, he would re-evaluate Alan as time went along but he looked for it to be a good recovery and a full one. He didn't address velocity specifically, just that he expected a full recovery. Personally, I look for good things ahead.
